Entertaining Talks for Groups

I am thrilled to have received a large number of testimonials from groups to whom I have given one of my talks.

Here are just some of them.

Wow!!  Thank you Delia for a delightful presentation about The Roaring 20s, a trip into an era that evoked so many happy times at a time of hardship but much camaraderie.  A really excellent afternoon which we all enjoyed and appreciated immensely.  A true testament is when I am asked ‘Does she have other talks? I did enjoy that’ which followed your departure!  That speaks volumes! It is a bonus for us to hear every word and have such a narration that we can hang on to every sentence rather than try to follow a gabbled account.

Delia’s presentation on 1930s The Golden Age of Hollywood did not disappoint!  From start to finish she had us spellbound with the information she had researched, from the tragic to the hilarious.  Who would have known that she was a distant relative of Cecil B DeMille, one of the most influential filmmakers in history?
We also enjoyed watching some of the great dance routines produced by musical choreographer Busby Berkeley. Included in the talk were many original film clips, which by today standards look stilted but fun all the same. Interestingly the reason why Cary Grant became a film star was because Mae West took a shine to him and made him her leading man!  The time went very quickly as it was so enjoyable and as always to Delia’s high standards.

Delia came to talk about The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and its influences, and her Power Point Presentation is stunning. Delia clearly loves her subject and her enthusiasm is infectious.  She kept members enraptured for 45 minutes and left the best till last.  Recommended.

We invited Delia to come and talk to us on Victorian London Street Life. Her talk had been painstaking researched and is further enhanced by a series of compelling illustrations. Her presentation is slick and informative culminating in some light-hearted audience participation. A thoroughly enjoyable and informative topic – highly recommended. President

I have just had a message saying "What a success was yesterday's presentation!  Absolutely brilliant! about The Golden Age of Hollywood. I heard someone say she could have watched more all afternoon".  I replied that was how I felt: I'd really like to see it again, too, as there were so many fascinating snippets of information to consider. Your approach was very professional too, with all of the equipment.  I will be happy to recommend you to other groups, and to invite you to return next year. Thank you again from all of us for a lovely afternoon.  I know that for some of our members it's the highlight of the month, so it is an important achievement.

I would like to extend my thanks on behalf of the Tonbridge U3A for a most interesting and enlightening presentation of The Fabulous 50’s’.

Your talk was very well received by our members and without doubt brought back some ‘fabulous’ memories for the majority, I even heard some of the audience singing along to some unforgettable 50’s music and also guessing the names of photos of popular celebrities of the time.

1960s The Decade of Change

On Tuesday Delia Taylor treated us to a varied talk reliving the 60’s with many memorable tunes and video clips as well as reminders of some of the most important events throughout the decade. Her talk was wonderfully researched with photographs and vignettes of the Beatles, Tony Hancock, fashion down Carnaby Street and many other reminders of most of the members’ teenage and early adult years … those who would admit to it of course! Members certainly enjoyed a morning of reminiscing and appreciating the tremendous changes in our way of life since the 60’s. The Group would like to welcome Delia back in the future after such an interesting talk.

I’m sorry it has taken me nearly a week to say a huge thank you for the wonderful talk you gave our Young at Heart Group last Monday about the Golden Age of Hollywood. It was wonderful and so appreciated by our members. It was just right and everyone went home smiling. We would definitely like a return visit in due course and your upcoming talk on Desert Island Discs sounds just the ticket.
